AFP presents a photo essay of 34 images by photographer Kerem Yucel taken between 20 and 23rd of October 2018 at a mostly Native Americans homeless encampment that continues growing in south Minneapolis, Minnesota. - At the tent city for homeless people, the path is strewn with used syringes. Some are shooting up in the open. Dozens have been found unconscious. At least two have died. Most of the more than 200 people here are Native Americans, who have spontaneously gathered over the past few months in this otherwise economically prosperous city. The existence of the camp against a backdrop of gleaming skyscrapers is shining a light on a homelessness crisis sparked by a lack of affordable housing, mental health care and drug addiction treatment. Native Americans are disproportionately affected in all cases

#Farmer Bill Sorg walks his fields in #Hastings, #Minnesota, on October 3, 2018. US President Donald Trump has visited Minnesota twice in less than six months. Political strategists are parachuting in from Washington. The writing is on the wall: this is a critical election battleground state.
It is also a state where a much heralded Democratic "blue wave" could crest, or peter out, in next month's midterms. Minnesota, nicknamed the "Land of 10,000 Lakes," has not voted for a Republican presidential candidate since Richard Nixon, in 1972.
But in 2016, Trump came close to snatching the state from Hillary Clinton.
